Pearson Education is launching a 16-part series of webinars to help educators as they transition to the CCSS. The webinars will be led by experts in literacy, mathematics, professional development, assessment, and English Language Learners. The sessions are free and are intended to provide teachers will tools, strategies, and resources they need to adapt their teaching methods to meet the standards of the Common Core.
The webinars held so far have focused on the CCSS for math (session 1); using student growth models, setting performance standards, and interpreting assessment results (session 2); and implementing the CCSS for English Language Arts in reading instruction (session 3). All sessions are recorded and archived for later access.
Upcoming sessions will cover topics like “unpacking” the CCSS for elementary, middle grades, and high school; text complexity and literacy; adaptive assessment; mathematical practice; and reading and writing in the 21st century.

–Dr. P. David Pearson – Dean of the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkley
–Sally Hampton – Chair of the English Language Arts College and Career Readiness Common Core State Standards Workgroup, Member of the English Language Arts K-12 Common Core State Standards Committee, and Senior Fellow at Pearson
–Sharon Vaughn- Professor at the University of Texas and member of the board of directors of the Vaughn Gross Center for Reading and Language Arts
–Dr. Jane Schielack – Associate Dean for Assessment and PreK Education at Texas A&M University
The series will run through November 19, with sessions each Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm EST (rebroadcast at 5pm PST).
