The New Teacher Project (TNTP) announces the launch of The School Leader’s Toolbox, a new collection of resources used by the nation’s top charter schools to recruit, manage and support a high-performing teacher workforce. Effective strategies for building and managing teacher talent are singularly important in light of decades of research showing that teachers have a greater impact on student achievement than any other school factor.
To build the toolbox, TNTP surveyed more than 1,000 charter school teachers on nearly 80 campuses, and interviewed dozens of school leaders. Though the schools were diverse-ranging from 14 teachers to networks of nearly 500-several common themes emerged.
TNTP distilled key learnings in five areas: Recruitment, Evaluation, Retention of High Performers, Performance Accountability, and Building a Professional School Culture. School leaders can explore key strategies and download more than 115 proven tools-forms, checklists, rubrics, job descriptions, policies-from 15 schools and networks.
In the coming weeks, TNTP will be hosting interactive webinars for school leaders to explore each topic in detail, walking through the key findings and answering questions about the associated tools.
