The State Consortium on Educator Effectiveness (SCEE) has unveiled a new teacher evaluation database called State Policies on Teacher Evaluation 2010-2011. The database includes state-by-state information on teacher evaluation policies for all states plus DC.
The purpose of the database is to provide information on how states have addressed teacher effectiveness in a time when the issue has been center stage in the education policy debate. The information has been gathered from that which is publicly available (on state departments of education sites, legislature sites, etc.); however, SCEE is still seeking member participation and collaboration to add greater depth (i.e., information on executive orders, regulations, guidance, and actions or reports prior to 2010).
Users can search the database by state (or group of states), legislation, State Board of Education actions, or all three variables combined. The search feature is extremely user-friendly, and search matches come separated by state and with a description of the action taken with a link to the original document. This database will be useful to everyone from education researchers to current teachers wishing to know what is “on the books” in their state.
